The 1996 Final Peace Agreement, also known as the Jakarta Accord, between the Ramos administration and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) aimed to fully implement the 1976 Tripoli Agreement. This agreement led to Nur Misuari becoming the governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), granting MNLF members positions in regional government, and integrating former fighters into the national police and military.
The 1996 Final Peace Agreement was a significant step in the peace process between the Philippine government and the MNLF. It was the culmination of four years of peace talks and sought to address the grievances that had fueled the conflict in Mindanao.
